The modern workplace is personally a more time, skill & productivity demanding experience for employees. One of the statements mental health professionals often hear in our office from employees concerns work demands “I stopped going to the gym, yoga class or my child’s baseball game” because I just have no time. Interestingly personal self-care & energizing behaviours are often culturally portrayed as “negative”. You know the question: What did you do on the weekend? Oh, you know nothing; I just rested, didn’t see anyone & only went to the gym!
As I like to say to people who come to see me; hey wait a minute if you don’t look after yourself who will?
Understanding the things that personally energize us or de-energize us at work is vitally important to our individual self-care plan. Having strategies to protect & nurture our energizers are key to workplace survival as are avoiding the workplace de-energizers including those few toxic people we all have to work with.
In this interactive workshop we will first look at our own self-care plan, ways to increase our stamina & look at our workplace personal energy motivators & de-motivators.
Secondly, we will briefly look at some personal workplace survival tactics to manage the “energy draining” people who make us feel “crazy”!
